About me
For those curious about the person behind the words, here is a little about me
I am often asked when I knew I wanted to become an author. I feel to parrot a famous heroine, that I was in the middle before I realized I had begun.
Allie Kensington
The story of
Allie Kensington
A headstrong girl with an affinity for pushing the boundaries and limitations of society.
Once upon a time Allie fell in love, quite by accident. She was blinded by a deep friendship, which happened to be the perfect recipe for a love match to grow right under her nose, without her noticing.
The Regency era speaks to her with its rules, etiquette, and charm. Of course, the top hats and cravats are sure winners. She can quote the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice with 98% accuracy, plays the pianoforte with moderate proficiency, and has an affinity for the beneficial exercise of walking.
Allie is a famous author–at least in her own home–where her very own Mr. Darcy dotes on her and where their children play without the supervision of a governess.
- Writing stories about Love makes me happy
- If I am given a choice, I never write in black ink
- I love books that evoke emotion. Let me laugh or cry in a book and it will always be memorable
Storyline
- 1995
Watched the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice with my mum. Did not really understand it, but I loved the costumes.
- 1998
Read Pride and Prejudice for an English class I was taking and loved every second of it! Decided to watch the movie again. Stayed up until 4:00 a.m. finishing all six parts. Since that viewing, I have watched it too many times to count.
- College Years
Spent time at University with several friends who shared a passion for the 19th century. Hosted several “Pride and Prejudice” parties. Met my very own Mr. Darcy and married him.
- 2015
Decided to start writing Regency Romance. Kids were small, and time was short, but my very own Mr. Darcy encouraged me to write. I bought lots of research books and immersed myself in everything fanciful and proper.
- 2018
Took a serious look at writing and publishing in the Regency genre again. Came up with several ideas, but I still didn’t quite commit to it.
- 2020
With travel plans changed and many activities cancelled, I found I had a little more time to write and pursue the story of the duke and his bride that had been swirling around in my mind for 3+ years.
- 2021
Ready or not, I’m going to publish. Actually, I feel I’ve given myself ample time to hone in on these beautiful characters and their amazing stories. It’s time for me to share them with the world. It has been a journey that has spanned decades of my life.
- April 2021
Getting ready to publish in June. A free novella – A Lady for His Lordship launched with great success!
- June 2021
Published The Duke’s Secret, Book One in the Marrying for Love Series. It is shaping up to be a beautiful time of year.
- May 2022
Published Besting The Earl, Book Two in the Marrying for Love Series. After many rewrites and a complete overhaul of the storyline, I’m so glad it was published!
- Fall 2022 - December 2022
In the middle of writing Unmasking the Marquess, I felt another story call to me. Within just a few days the story was outlined, and a brand new series was started. I wrote, edited and published the book in record time! It was so thrilling to write Finding Grace – Book One in The Sisters of Cherrywood Manor Series. I’m very excited to bring the other stories in this series to life.
- April 2023
Unmasking the Marquess, Book Three in the Marrying for Love Series, is finally here and published! Lady Cassandra is one of my most favorite characters, if an author is truly allowed to have favorites. She is bright, witty, and her story twists and turns. I hope you enjoy this one.
- March 2024*
Vexing the Viscount is currently up for preorder. While I hope to release this book sooner than the above date, that is when it is currently due! Lizzie is such a fun character! I can’t wait for you to get to know her better!
